Catherine Johnson is a Marine Forces Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and is a nationally recognized trainer on the investigation of adult sexual assault cases.  Prior to working for the Marine Corps, Ms. Johnson was an instructor at the North Carolina Justice Academy, where she developed and implemented training programs on adult sexual assault.  Ms. Johnson is a former senior detective with the Kansas City Missouri Police Department and spent over six years assigned to the Sex Crimes Section of the Special Victims Unit investigating over five hundred sexual assaults.  Ms. Johnson has over ten years of law enforcement experience with the Kansas City Missouri Police Department and has received numerous awards for her service. 

Ms. Johnson served as a member of the Intimate Partner Violence Taskforce with Truman Medical Center and served as an Advisory Board Member with the Kansas City Alliance Against Human Trafficking.  While in Kansas City, Ms. Johnson served as a board member for COVERSA (Collection of Victim Evidence Regarding Sexual Assault) and as a Distinguished Fellow with the Missouri Chapter of the International Association of Forensic Nurses.  While working for the North Carolina Justice Academy, Ms. Johnson served on the Board of Directors for The Healing Place, Henderson County’s local rape crisis center.  Ms. Johnson is currently an Associate Board Member of Project GHB and serves on the Board of Directors of End Violence Against Women International.

Ms. Johnson has provided 1,000 hours of training to law enforcement agencies, including campus law enforcement.  Additionally, she has provided training to forensic nurses, victim advocacy agencies, and other multi-disciplinary groups in training sessions ranging from small groups to conference settings.  In 2014, she moved to the North Carolina coast where she continues to train law enforcement and assist victims of sexual assault.
