Lieutenant Andrea Munford has been with the Michigan State University (MSU) Police Department since 1997.  Lieutenant Munford is currently assigned to the Investigations Division as the Special Victims Unit Supervisor.  In this role, Lieutenant Munford is the primary law enforcement investigator for sex crimes, relationship violence, stalking, child abuse, vulnerable adult abuse, missing persons, and bias incidents on the MSU campus.  She supervises and trains other Special Victims Unit members, liaises with MSU’s Office of Institutional Equity, and represents the MSU Police Department on multiple committees and groups established at MSU to address issues of sexual violence.  Lieutenant Munford has participated in many projects to assist with improving the reporting process for victims at Michigan State University and the surrounding community, including promoting a collaborative relationship with the Title IX office, developing a Memorandum of Understanding with surrounding law enforcement agencies, and educating the community on mandatory reporting policies and the procedures necessary to remain victim-centered.

Lieutenant Munford has held a variety of positions including Crime Scene Investigator and Unit Supervisor, Cold Case Homicide Task Force Investigator, Patrol Division Sergeant, Special Events Coordinator, Civil Disorder Response Instructor, and Patrol Bicycle Unit Supervisor.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from MSU and is a graduate of the Mid-Michigan Police Academy.
