David Scott

Sergeant David Scott has been with the Longview Police Department for the past eleven years.  During his career, he has worked as an academy instructor for the department and for the East Texas Police Academy (ETPA) in Kilgore, Texas.  He is an instructor child abuse, family violence, and sexual assault.  Prior to being promoted to the rank of sergeant, he was a member of the department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and later the Crisis Intervention Negotiations Unit (Hostage Negotiation team).  Sergeant Scott is currently assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division over the Property Crimes Section for the Longview Police Department.  

Sergeant Scott holds a Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, Texas .  He also holds three master’s degrees in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, and Business Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler.  He also earned professional training credentials from Bill Blackwood Institute of Texas Leadership Command College, the F.B.I. Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA), the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, and the Training and Research Institute for Professional Law Enforcement. He is a certified advanced and basic instructor for the State of Texas, a Sexual Assault Family Violence Investigators Course instructor, and Advanced Child Abuse instructor.  

Sergeant Scott is an active member with FBI LEEDA , the Texas Police Association, the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault, and the Texas Municipal Police Association.  He is currently the Board Chairman for the Women’s Center of East Texas and is the former Board President and committee member with the St. Mary’s Catholic School in East Texas.  He and his family reside in Longview, Texas.
