2 Day Training on the Criminal Justice Response to Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence
Thursday, January 31 - Friday, February 1, 2013
The Westin Charlotte

End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI) is pleased to announce that we will be holding the first of three 2013 Regional Training Conferences in Charlotte, North Carolina. This 2-day training will be held at the Westin Charlotte Hotel on Thursday, January 31 and Friday, February 1, 2013.

These regional training conferences are designed to complement our international conference that we host once a year, as well as our OnLine Training Institute (OLTI) and webinar events, to offer a range of training options for professionals in the field.  While the annual conference offers an incredible opportunity to hear from as many as 80 leading experts facilitating 48 workshops and 6 plenary sessions -- we continually receive requests to host regional training conferences on a smaller scale, to address the fundamentals of how to improve the investigation and prosecution of sexual assault and domestic violence.  This is consistent with our mission as an organization, which is to inspire and educate those who respond to gender-based violence - with the goal of better supporting victims, holding perpetrators accountable, and ultimately make our communities safer.

We encourage you to join us for a cutting edge opportunity highlighting:

EVAWI to host screening of The Invisible War

Please join us for a special screening of The Invisible War, an award winning investigative documentary about the epidemic of rape within the U.S. military, January 31, 2013

From Oscar®- and Emmy®-nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick comes The Invisible War, a groundbreaking investigative documentary about the epidemic of rape within the U.S. military. Female soldiers today are more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire. Twenty percent of all active duty females are sexually assaulted. The film is a 90-minute documentary that won the 2012 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award. The film reveals the epidemic of rape within the U.S. military and exposes the choices many service members are forced to make between speaking up and serving their country.

Conference attendees as well as the public are encouraged to attend. The film will be shown at 7 PM on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the Westin Charlotte. A brief discussion will follow. You may reserve your seat and make your donation in advance at SHOP EVAWI. All donations will benefit EVAWI work.  The suggested donation is $10. Hotel parking is available for $8.
